Obverse description Right-facing bare-headed bust of Emperor Alexander II in high relief, with beard and moustache, occupying the central field. The surrounding legend in Cyrillic runs along the upper rim, with the coronation inscription and date appearing in two lines in the lower field.

Reverse description The Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed in finely detailed high relief, crowned and holding orb and sceptre, with an elaborate escutcheon on its breast depicting St. George slaying the dragon, and multiple heraldic shields on its wings. The engraver's signature appears at the base. The motto legend in Cyrillic is inscribed along the upper rim.
