| Description de l’avers | Central field features a relief depiction of the historic six-pointed star-shaped fortification of Karlovac, with designer's initials 'DM' to the lower left and issue year ''09.' to the lower right of the fortress. Four sinuous wavy bands representing the rivers Kupa, Korana, Mrežnica, and Dobra surround the fortress, while the founding year '1579.' appears vertically at the left rim and the year of royal charter '1781.' at the right rim, with the legend 'GRAD' above and 'KARLOVAC' below. |

| Description du revers | The full heraldic coat of arms of the Free Royal City of Karlovac occupies the field in high relief. The oval shield is divided into three quarters: upper left bears the chequered arms of Croatia, upper right displays two crossed anchors, and the lower half depicts a landscape with the fortified city between two rivers beneath a sun and crescent. A small escutcheon in the centre of the main shield bears the initials of Emperor Joseph II. The achievement is surmounted by a civic crown, and two merman supporters flank the shield on either side, their scaled tails curling at the base. |
