The lower half carries the large inscription МАРІУПОЛЬ — in which the letter 'і' is replaced by a candle flame and the letter 'о' by a map silhouette formed from two facing profiles — flanked above by МІСТО and below by ГЕРОЇВ and the date 2022; an anchor appears in the lower exergue against stylized waves, and the mint mark of the National Bank of Ukraine is situated at lower right.
