Obverse description Right-facing bust of King Charles I in high relief, armoured and draped, wearing a large ruff collar with elaborate lace detail. The effigy is finely modelled showing the king with short hair and a pointed beard. The circular Latin legend runs along the rim, and the medal bears a suspension loop at the top.
