Obverse description A small sailing vessel tossed by stormy waves in high relief, with two figures aboard — Caesar seated at the stern gesturing forward and an oarsman straining at the oars — rendered in finely engraved detail against a dramatic sky of billowing clouds. A horizontal line separates the scene from the exergue below, which bears the legend in two lines within a recessed panel. The medal has a reeded border.
