Obverse description A powerful semi-nude male figure in high relief lunges dynamically forward, thrusting a long sword diagonally across the field. The date 1914 appears to the left, the motto "DURCH" to the right, and a cartouche at the base bears the legend DEUTSCHLAND / ÖSTREICH-UNGARN. The engraver's signature K.HAAS is visible at lower right, with a wreath-like border framing the composition.
