Reverse description A Maltese cross in relief at the top of the field, above a decorative cartouche formed by two scrolled volutes, enclosing the inscription MALTA PRELIMINARY SHOW 1923. A wreath of laurel and oak surrounds a heraldic shield at the base. The circular legend BRITISH EMPIRE EXHIBITION · 1924 runs around the rim, with the fineness mark 800 and the engraver's signature FE INC. in the lower field.
