The design occupies the full field with no legend, separated from a plain exergue below by a horizontal line.

Reverse description The City of Birmingham coat of arms in relief at centre, surmounted by a large decorative mace or palmette crest. A circular legend around the field reads 'CITY OF BIRMINGHAM' at the top and 'FIRE BRIGADE HEADQUARTERS' at the bottom, with an inscription in the field recording the opening by H.R.H. The Duke of Kent, K.G., on 2nd December 1935.
