Detailed representation of the Berlenga Lighthouse, built in 1841 in the Berlengas archipelago, near Peniche, one of the most emblematic and important lighthouses on the Atlantic coast. In the foreground, you can see the buildings attached to the lighthouse and the rocky terrain characteristic of the island. Above, the inscription in an arch: `MARINHA PORTUGUESA` (Portuguese Navy). Below, in a counter-curve: `DIRECÇÃO DE FARÓIS` (Lighthouse Directorate). Next to the tower is the caption `Farol da Berlenga` (Berlenga Lighthouse). Signatures of the artists: `Cunharte – Adolfo` and `M. de Lourdes`. Small seabirds reinforce the coastal and island atmosphere. |
