| Obverse description | The obverse features a detailed high-relief depiction of the Berlenga Lighthouse (Farol da Berlenga) rising prominently above the attached keeper's buildings, with the characteristic rocky terrain of the island rendered in the lower field; two seabirds are shown in flight flanking the tower. The arched legend at the top reads MARINHA PORTUGUESA, and the lower legend reads DIRECÇÃO DE FARÓIS, with the caption FAROL DA BERLENGA inscribed in the lower central field. The engravers' signatures CUNHARTE-Adolfo and Mª de Lourdes appear in the mid-field to the left and right of the tower respectively. |
