Obverse description Central relief bust of Pope Benedict XVI in full papal regalia, wearing mitre and holding a processional cross, set within a circular silver-toned field. The legend BENEDETTO XVI arcs to the left and the date MMXIII appears in the exergue. The border features eight gilt inset miniature coins depicting papal effigies, alternating with six-pointed stars on a dark background.

Reverse description A large Greek cross in relief at the center, bearing the Chi-Rho (Christogram) monogram at its intersection, flanked by four winged Evangelist symbols in the quadrants.
