Reverse description Central field displays a relief map of the English Channel showing the coastlines of southern England and Normandy, with four Norman longboats under sail crossing the water. Place names are inscribed on the map including HASTINGS, PEVENSEY, BAYEUX, NORMANDY, and ROUEN. The surrounding border legend reads THE LAST INVASION OF BRITAIN above and THE BATTLE OF HASTINGS below, with the date 1066 divided either side of the central map.
