Obverse description The obverse features a large spread eagle with raised wings, its head surmounted by a royal crown with a cross, dominating the field. At the center, a circular medallion contains a right-facing bare-headed bust of King Carol I of Romania, surrounded by the legend CAROL I REGE AL ROMANIEI. Two soldier figures flank the base of the eagle, one holding a sword and the other a scepter, with a shield inscribed PACE at the bottom. The surrounding legend reads IN AMINTIREA INALTATORULUI AVANT 1913.
