Obverse description Full-length frontal figure of Athena in Art Deco style, wearing a crested helmet and scale armour, flanked by two pairs of hands — one pair holding an open scroll inscribed with the legend to the left, the other raising a flaming torch to the right. A bearded mask in relief appears at the base of the figure. The engraver's signature GEO VERBANCK is incised vertically along the right inner rim.

Reverse description A rampant lion facing left occupies the centre of the field, with a crowned monogram superimposed over its body. A circular border legend in bold raised letters runs around the entire rim, with the French and Dutch designations of the Kingdom of Belgium separated by small ornamental stops.
