| Obverse description | High-relief scene set in an African landscape depicting Baron Dhanis in colonial uniform, standing and holding the flag of the Congo Free State, interposing himself between a group of chained Congolese figures and a robed Arab slave trader kneeling in supplication at his feet. | Reverse description | The crowned coat of arms of the Congo Free State (a golden lion on a blue and gold field surmounted by a star) is displayed centrally, flanked by two circular medallions on laurel branches: the left medallion bears a bearded portrait bust in profile with a surrounding legend, and the right medallion bears the inscription CAMPAGNE ARABE 1892-1894 within a wreath.
