| Obverse description | The obverse bears three portrait busts in high relief of the Apollo 8 crew in spacesuits: commander Frank Borman prominently centered at the top, with W. Anders (Co-Pilot) at lower left and J. Lovell (Navigator) at lower right. The arched legend COMMANDANT FRANK BORMAN runs along the upper periphery, while the names W.ANDERS - J.LOVELL with their respective titles CO-PILOT and NAVIGATOR are inscribed in the lower field. The fineness mark 1000 appears at the very bottom. |
