Obverse description High-relief facing bust of Admiral Heihachiro Togo in full dress uniform, wearing epaulettes, a collar chain, the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, and multiple decorations and medals. A Japanese legend in kanji runs along the upper and lower periphery of the field.

Reverse description The reverse depicts the battleship Mikasa under steam in the background, with a large naval signal flag to the left and the bow of another warship to the right. In the centre field, a raised rectangular tablet bears Togo's famous pre-battle signal in kanji; the date in the Showa era regnal format appears along the lower margin.
