| Obverse description | Central field features two large heraldic shields bearing the arms of Aargau and Baden, flanked by crossed rifles, a crossbow with arrows, and four furled flags. The radiate Swiss Confederation cross appears above in relief, and oak and laurel branches frame the composition in the lower field. The circular legend with beaded border reads around the periphery with the date 1896 at right and BADEN at the base. |
