Obverse description The obverse features concentric circular bands of Arabic inscriptions in high relief against a dark polished field. The central medallion contains the word for 'Revolution' surrounded by further legends referencing the 17–30 Tammuz dates and the year 1968, with the outer band bearing the Ba'ath Party motto and the name of the Iraqi Republic.

Reverse description The reverse presents an allegorical composition in high relief depicting a veiled female figure at left raising her hand, flanked by an oil derrick at centre, a hand gripping a rifle, and at lower centre a hand writing on an open book. To the right, a circular emblem incorporates a sunburst, a map of the Arab world, a cog wheel, and a wheat sheaf, all symbolising the political, industrial, agricultural and cultural achievements of the Ba'athist revolution.
