| Obverse description | A standing female figure in classical dress rests her hand upon a large inscribed menhir (bauta stone) bearing the date 17 MAI 1814 and the text NORGES GRUNDLOV, while holding a shield displaying the Norwegian lion in the opposite hand. The legend FRIHED and SELVSTÆNDIGHED arcs across the upper field on either side. The medal has an integral suspension loop at the top. |
