Obverse description Two decorative water jugs facing each other in the central field, each labelled with a river name (MAIN and DONAU), pouring water into a canal with reeds rising between them, symbolising the junction of the two rivers. The legend arcing around the upper rim names the Ludwig-Donau-Main-Kanal, with the date 1843 and the 150th-anniversary inscription below the central device. The issuer's name, Münzverein Neumarkt OPf. u. Umgebung e.V., appears in small lettering along the lower rim.
