| Reverse description | A detailed depiction of the Dutch East India Company fluyt 'Halve Maen' (Half Moon) under full sail occupies the central field, rendered with rigging, masts, flags, and hull in high relief. A decorative scroll banner beneath the ship bears the inscription 2009·QUADRICENTENNIAL·2010, with the dates 1609 and 1610 displayed on ribbon cartouches flanking the vessel at left and right respectively. The denomination 1 DAALDER appears within the lower scroll, and the Dutch name HALVE·MAEN curves along the bottom periphery. The legend HALF MOON arcs prominently along the upper periphery. |

Issued to mark the 400th anniversary of Hudson's 1609 voyage up the river that now bears his name, this medal was produced in conjunction with the Quadricentennial celebrations jointly organized by the United States and the Netherlands. The Half Moon — a replica of Hudson's original vessel — sailed from New York to Albany that same year, retracing the route Hudson navigated while employed by the Dutch East India Company, searching for a northwest passage he never found.
