Obverse description Full-length figure of Saint Benedict in monastic habit, depicted in relief within an arched niche, holding a cross-topped crozier in his right hand and an open book in his left. To the left of the figure a tablet inscribed CRUX S. PATRIS and to the right one inscribed BENEDICTI, with a raven at the lower right; the surrounding legend reads EIVS IN OBITU NRO PRAESENTIA MUNIAMUR, with MONTE CASINO in the exergue.
