Obverse description Reproduction in relief of the Pioneer plaque, originally affixed to the Pioneer 10 space probe launched in 1972. The design depicts a nude male and female figure standing before a schematic outline of the spacecraft, flanked by a pulsar map in the left field and binary notation along the lower border representing the solar system's planets. A suspension hole is pierced at the top center.
