Obverse description The legend VERTOLAYE arcs along the upper rim above the town coat of arms at center, depicting a shield charged with four fleurs-de-lis in relief. Flanking the shield are three symbolic industrial motifs: to the left, a coiled shoelace or braid labeled LACETS referencing the Gautier lace factory; to the right, pharmaceutical laboratory glassware representing the local pharmaceutical industry; and at the lower center, a pair of bellows associated with the Tourlonias factory.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a panoramic scene of the commune of Vertolaye framed by a leaf-shaped outline of the village territory. In the upper left, a cross-country skier in relief represents the nearby mountain massif, behind which stylized fir trees and mountain peaks are rendered in low relief. To the right, the Château du Boucher is shown as a multi-towered castle, while the village church with arched windows and Gothic details occupies the lower center of the field.
