| Obverse description | The obverse depicts a dramatic high-relief scene of the storming of the Bastille fortress, with revolutionary figures brandishing pikes and waving a tricolor French flag rendered in blue, white, and red enamel, against the backdrop of the Bastille's towers. The legends LIBERTE and EGALITE appear on blue and red enamel banners respectively at the sides of the field, while a white enamel ribbon in the exergue bears the legend 14 JUILLET / 1789, with the title A LA BASTILLE arching across the upper rim within a beaded border. A small edition number 356 is visible in the right field. |
