| Obverse description | Crowned royal bust facing left within a beaded inner circle, depicting King Sancho IV with flowing hair and a prominent crown. The effigy is rendered in the crude but expressive medieval hammered style characteristic of Castilian billon coinage of the late 13th century. The surrounding circular legend reads SANCII REX, identifying the monarch, separated by pellets. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
