Obverse description Central cross pattée above a stylized tree or foliate motif, both enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The cross is flanked by decorative elements in the field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner design, reading TOLETVM, referencing the city of Toledo. The overall style is characteristic of Castilian hammered billon coinage of the 12th century, with irregular flan and bold, if somewhat crude, die work.
