Sidi Mohammed III standardized Moroccan coinage through a series of minting reforms beginning in the 1770s, establishing Rabat al-Fath as one of several active mints during his reign. The mazuna fractions were struck in substantial numbers to serve everyday commerce, but their tiny silver content and active circulation have left few survivors in collectible condition. This third standard issue reflects one of several weight adjustments made during his reign as the administration calibrated bullion ratios against trade demands with European partners.
