Reverse description Central field bears the Este heraldic eagle or dynastic emblem within a beaded inner circle, with the mint legend distributed across the field in Gothic lettering. The reverse inscription identifies the mint of Ferrara, with the text arranged in segments separated by stops. A beaded or rope border encircles the inner device, and an outer beaded rim follows the irregular edge of the hammered flan. The flat fields and bold, slightly uneven strike are characteristic of late-medieval Italian hammered silver coinage.
