Obverse description Central field displays the letters C, H, I, O arranged in a cruciform pattern around a central pellet, all enclosed within a beaded or reeded inner circle. A small eagle device precedes the surrounding peripheral legend, which reads ALBERT · MAR Ch I O, identifying Alberto as Marquis. The lettering is rendered in Gothic script typical of late 14th-century Italian hammered coinage.
