The Bursa mint held special administrative significance in early Ottoman coinage, having functioned as the imperial mint before the conquest of Constantinople — a status that gave its output a kind of institutional inertia well into the sixteenth century. Süleyman I's accession in 1520 prompted a reissuing of copper mangır across provincial mints, partly to restock small-denomination coinage depleted during the chaotic final campaigns of Selim I's reign.
The Bursa variant is distinguished from contemporaneous Kostantiniyye strikes by subtle differences in flan preparation documented under the A#1323 reference grouping.
