Suleiman I's copper manghir occupied the lowest denomination of Ottoman currency during a reign that stretched across four decades and saw the empire reach its greatest territorial extent. These coins circulated hard through the bazaars of Constantinople, Cairo, and Belgrade — the copper wore quickly, and survivors in any decent condition are genuinely scarce relative to the silver akçe issues of the same reign.
