Additional information

Sahib II Giray's reign was brief and turbulent — he ruled twice, with the second reign coinciding almost exactly with the period of Russian military occupation that preceded formal annexation of the Khanate in 1783. By 1772, Russian forces had been operating on Crimean soil for two years, and the Khanate's political autonomy was increasingly nominal. Small billon issues like this manghir continued to be struck in the khan's name, but the fiscal infrastructure behind them was collapsing under wartime disruption and Russian interference in local governance.
