Reverse description The entire field is densely covered with multiple repetitions of the character 宝 (Hō, abbreviating Hōei), applied in the distinctive Futatsu-hō calligraphic style, whereby the character is rendered in a compact, rounded form repeated across the surface in a closely packed, all-over pattern. Seven individual 宝 characters are distributed across the field without any formal border or legend, their irregular placement and overlapping arrangement being characteristic of this hammered mameitagin type. The textured, convex surface of the planchet causes slight distortion and variable depth of strike across the field.
