| Obverse description | Central field features a hammered relief depiction of Daikoku, the God of Wealth, shown seated frontally atop bales of rice, wearing his characteristic tall flat-crowned hat and robes, with arms extended to either side. A large mallet is held in one hand, with a treasure bag or sack visible to the lower left. The era-identifying character 宝 (Hō, abbreviating Hōei) appears centrally, serving as the period signifier. The design is rendered in the bold, stylized manner typical of Edo-period mameitagin coinage, with the irregular planchet imparting an organic outline to the composition. |
