| Beschrijving voorzijde | Convex, irregularly shaped hammered billon flan bearing multiple deeply impressed kanji characters in the central field, applied by hand stamp in a characteristic overlapping fashion typical of Edo-period mameitagin coinage. The dominant motif comprises the repeated character 永 (ei, meaning 'eternity') arranged in a radiating cluster, together with the character 寳 (hō, meaning 'treasure'), referencing the Hōei era designation. Additional counter-stamps denoting the Daikoku mint authority mark are present, their raised relief standing boldly against the rough, granular surface. The overall layout is asymmetric and organically distributed across the domed obverse field, reflecting the artisanal nature of bean silver production at the Ginza. |
