| Obverse description | Right-facing bust of Emperor Theodosius I, depicted pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial style typical of the Theodosian period. The effigy displays the characteristic stylized military dress of the era, with visible paludamentum folds at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads D N THEODOSIVS P F AVG, distributed around the bust within the coin's border. The portrait conveys imperial authority through its formal, frontal treatment of the drapery and the distinctive beaded diadem. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with hammered production of the late fourth century. |
