Obverse description Right-facing bust of the usurper Procopius, pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial style. The diadem is composed of a double row of pearls, and the paludamentum is fastened at the right shoulder. The hair is depicted in fine ribbed striations with a beaded ornament at the crown, characteristic of mid-4th-century portraiture. The circumferential Latin legend reads D N PROCOPIVS P F AVG, distributed around the bust. The overall portrait conveys imperial authority typical of the brief usurpation coinage struck at Constantinople.
