Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Arcadius rendered in the late Roman imperial style, pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed. The obverse legend D N ARCADI-VS P F AVG (Dominus Noster Arcadius Pius Felix Augustus) is distributed around the periphery of the flan. The coin's surface shows heavy patination and encrustation characteristic of extended burial, yet the general form of the imperial effigy remains discernible. The pearl diadem, a hallmark of the Theodosian dynastic portrait type, frames the emperor's head, conveying divine legitimacy and regal authority.
