Reverse description The emperor is depicted standing facing, with head turned to the right, clad in military attire. In his right hand he holds a labarum (military standard) and in his left a globus surmounted by a Victory, emblematic of universal dominion and Roman triumph. The reverse legend GLORIA-ROMANORVM (Glory of the Romans) is distributed on either side of the central figure. A mintmark appears in the exergue denoting the Antioch mint and its respective officina (ANTA or ANTB). The composition reflects the propagandistic imagery of the Theodosian period, asserting continued Roman imperial power.
