Reverse description A stylized lion passant or walking to the left, rendered in the bold, somewhat crude artistic manner typical of anonymous Flemish feudal coinage of the mid-12th century. The feline figure dominates the field with raised forepaw, its body depicted in profile with a prominent tail curving upward. The design is contained within a plain or beaded border, with no surrounding legend on the reverse.
