| Reverse description | A bold cross pattée occupies the central field, its flared arms extending nearly to the inner border. Each of the four quarters between the arms of the cross contains a crescent, with the horns oriented inward toward the center of the coin. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle and a beaded or toothed outer border, characteristic of the hammered maille coinage of Hainaut. The reverse is devoid of legend, relying solely on the heraldic cross-and-crescent motif as the principal device. |
