| Reverse description | Central design features a bold cross pattée with trefoil or fleur-de-lis terminals at each arm, a common heraldic motif on Flemish medieval coinage of the mid-13th century. The cross is rendered in high relief with pronounced curvature at the arm ends, filling the field in a symmetrical composition. The peripheral legend FLANDRES identifies the issuing county, disposed around the outer edge of the irregular flan. The overall style is consistent with anonymous hammered issues attributed to the Bruges mint under the County of Flanders. |
