Obverse description The quartered arms of Burgundy, combining the fleurs-de-lis of France and the diagonal stripes of ancient Burgundy, displayed on an ermine-mantled shield supported by two draped figures and surmounted by a royal crown. The legend COMITIA BURGUNDIÆ arcs along the upper field with the date 1782 to the right, all within a beaded border.

Reverse description The personal arms of François-Marie Bernard, vicomte de Sassenay et de Chalon, displayed on a crowned shield featuring crossed swords, a spur rowel, and other devices, flanked by laurel branches. A ribbon banner on either side of the crown bears the motto ET. BELLO ET. PACE, and the surrounding legend names the bearer with his titles, all within a beaded border.
