| Descrizione del dritto | Central field depicts a standing three-quarter effigy of Louis XIV in period court dress with flowing long wig, set against a detailed architectural background representing the Palace of Versailles. Flanking the royal figure are two gold-plated medallions in high relief: the left medallion reproduces the obverse of the original 1653 Louis d'or bearing the laureate bust of Louis XIV with surrounding legend, while the right medallion reproduces the reverse cross design of the same coin. A decorative fleur-de-lis ornament appears at the lower center. The upper legend reads • L' ÉTAT, C'EST MOI • and the lower inscription reads LOUIS D'OR 1653. |
