The surrounding peripheral legend reads ☩ DIVIONENSIS, denoting the Dijon mint. The flan is irregularly shaped with a slightly ragged edge, a common feature of hammered billon deniers of this period. The overall design is characteristic of the small feudal denier coinage struck under the Capetian Dukes of Burgundy. |
