Obverse description A leopard passant facing right occupies the central field, rendered in the bold, stylized manner typical of Anglo-Gascon medieval coinage. The figure is set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend, in uncial Latin characters, reads ED REX AnGLIE, identifying Edward as King of England. The striking is irregular in shape and somewhat flat, consistent with hammered billon coinage of the period.
