| Obverse description | A leopard passant facing left occupies the central field within a beaded inner circle. The animal is rendered in a stylised medieval manner typical of Plantagenet feudal coinage of the period. The surrounding legend, struck in uncial Gothic characters, reads ED REX AnGLIE, identifying Edward as King of England. The design is characteristically bold and deeply struck, though the irregular flan results in partial legend breaks common to hammered billon issues of Aquitaine. |
