Reverse description An octopus depicted frontally and symmetrically in the center of the plain field, its eight tentacles curling outward in dynamic, naturalistic scrolls filling the flan. The body is rendered with a smooth, ovoid mantle, and the curling arms radiate in a radially balanced composition characteristic of Syracusan small silver coinage of the early Second Democracy period. The reverse is without legend or additional devices.
